Services
Street Tree Trimming
Most City street trees are located in the parkway between the curb of the street and the sidewalk. Where sidewalks are attached to the curb, trees immediately behind the sidewalk may be public street trees. Street trees are trimmed periodically by the City for vehicle and pedestrian clearance. Less frequently, they are pruned to enhance the structure, appearance, and safety of the tree. To report a need for trimming or pruning, call (408) 866-2145 or send an email.
Street Tree Trimming Clearance from Power Lines
The City does not trim trees away from power lines. This is done by Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E). For complete information about PG&E’s tree trimming policy, or to submit a tree trimming request, please visit their website.
Street Tree Removal
The City of Campbell strongly supports the preservation of street trees. Trees beautify and enhance our neighborhoods, help to conserve energy, clean the air, and provide a home for wildlife. For 36 consecutive years the City of Campbell has been named Tree City USA by the National Arbor Day Foundation for its commitment to trees.
The City will remove street trees only if they are dead or diseased beyond saving. Street tree removals requested by adjacent property owners for any other reason are allowed only in very limited circumstances. In most cases these requests require the approval of the Parks and Recreation Commission and, if granted, require that the adjacent property owner arranges and pays for the removal and replacement of the tree with a large, 24-inch box tree. To discuss street trees, please call the Maintenance Division at (408) 866-2145 and ask to speak to the Park Maintenance supervisor.
