At this time we have not yet determined whether we will be able to offer an LIT program due to COVID-19. Interested applicants may still apply. We will contact everyone once we know whether we will be able to offer the program or not.
Teens ages 14 to 16 gain leadership skills and volunteer experience as Leaders in Training in the Camper Cubs, Bull Frogs, Grasshoppers, Sea Turtles, and Sunshine Kids Day Camps. Skills to be an effective day camp leader will be taught. Each two-week session includes training in game leadership, program planning, leading camp songs, participant safety procedures, field trip supervision, and job interview techniques.
Leader In Training participants will experience first hand camp leadership as they work alongside day camp leaders, help supervise campers on a field trip, and assist in the organization of the Friday all camp sing-a-long.
LITs are expected to follow the same attendance, behavior, and dress regulations as staff. LITs must bring a sack lunch with a drink each day. LITs will not be assured a Recreation Leader job in future summers. However, experience as an LITs and the skills participants are taught may help prepare them for a Recreation Leader position.
Note: Participation in this program does not guarantee a job with Campbell Recreation.
