Upcoming opportunities to get involved
Community Meeting #5
TBD
- Why is the CCC Pool Closing?
-
After careful evaluation, it has been determined that the pool's infrastructure and operational systems have reached the end of their useful life. The facility is experiencing extensive mechanical, structural, and operational issues coupled with leaks in the inlets, gutters and main drain. It has become increasingly difficult and costly to maintain. As a result, the decision has been made to permanently close the existing pool facility.
- When will the CCC Pool close?
-
The final day of operation was July 14, 2026. The facility had to unexpectedly close prior to the original planned date of August 31, 2026..
- Why can't the CCC Pool simply be repaired?
-
While ongoing repairs have been made over the years to keep the facility operational, the condition of the pool and its supporting systems have deteriorated to a point where continued repairs are no longer cost-effective. Many of the systems are failing simultaneously, and the investment required to restore the existing facility would not be a responsible long-term use of public resources.
- What kinds of issues is the CCC Pool experiencing?
-
The facility is facing multiple leaks in pipes in the pool inlets, gutter system and main drain. The chemical control panel is unable to effectively manage the pool and requires manual assistance. These aging and failing systems are essential for safe and reliable operation. Due to the age and condition of the facility, repairs have become increasingly complex, costly, and temporary in nature.
- Will the City rent an alternate pool to provide aquatic programming?
-
At this time, renting another pool is not a practical solution for our ongoing aquatic programming schedule. There are no suitable pool facilities available for rent during the weekdays that can accommodate the variety and consistency of programs we offer. While some high school pools may have limited availability during evenings or weekends, those times do not align with our programming needs and dedicating staff and financial resources to limited, less accessible pool time would not be an effective or sustainable use of those resources.
- Why wasn't a new CCC Pool built before closing the current one?
-
The condition of the existing facility has reached a point where continued operation is no longer financially practical. While planning for a replacement facility is moving forward, the current pool cannot continue operating indefinitely while awaiting completion of a new project.
- Will there be alternative aquatic programs available?
-
The City’s website will provide information regarding alternative swim lessons, aquatic fitness programs, and recreational swim opportunities at neighboring agencies. The City will not be conducting aquatic programming off site at this time.
- Is the CCC Pool closure temporary?
-
No. The existing pool facility will close permanently. Aquatic services at this location will not resume until a new aquatic facility has been designed, funded, constructed, and opened.
- Is a new CCC Pool being planned?
-
Yes. The City remains committed to providing aquatic recreation opportunities in the future. Planning efforts for a replacement facility are underway, and additional information will be shared as it becomes available.
The second community meeting to receive input will be held on:
Monday, August 24, 2026 at 6pm in room Q80.Notes are available from the previous community meeting (s) please see the Community Meeting tab on this page (above the Frequently Asked Questions)
- When will the new CCC Pool open?
-
At this time, there is no confirmed reopening date. The timeline for a new pool project depends on a variety of factors, including planning, design, permitting, funding, environmental review, construction, and other project milestones. Updates will be provided as the project progresses. (Include link to Pool Project Updates page)
- Will swim lessons, lap swimming, swim team and recreation swimming continue until the closure date?
-
Yes. Programs and services will continue through the final day of operation unless unforeseen circumstances require changes. Participants will be notified if any adjustments become necessary.
- What happens to programs scheduled after the closure?
-
Currently there are no programs scheduled beyond the closure date of August 31, 2026. If for any reason the pool must be closed prior to this date, programs will be canceled. Registered participants will be contacted regarding refunds, credits, or other available options.
- What happens to memberships and passes?
-
CCC 10-pass, 20-Pass and Auto-Renewing Passes:
- Auto-Renewing Passes: The auto-renew function of these passes has been turned off and refunds or partial refunds have been completed. If you wish to continue to use the weight room these passes are available to purchase again.
- 10 and 20 Passes: Please be patient with us, there are approximately 550 members with these passes. We have to review each membership holders account, determine how many visits are left, the cost of the pass and therefore the refund amount. We anticipate this process taking a few weeks to complete, but our goal is by the end of August we will be done with that. If you only used the pool, these will be issued as a refund back to the original form of payment. We may reach out to membership holders if we have to send a check to confirm your mailing address or if you used the weight room and pool to determine if you will continue to use the weight room.
We appreciate your patience with this!
- Can I still reserve the CCC Pool for private events?
-
Private rentals will continue to be accepted through the final day of operation (July 14, 2026). Reservations scheduled beyond the closure date have been canceled, and customers have been refunded.
- How will this impact CCC Pool staff?
-
The organization values its employees and is working closely with staff to provide information regarding future employment opportunities, reassignment possibilities, and transition support where available.
- How can I stay informed about the new CCC Pool project?
-
Project updates will be shared through the City's website, social media channels, email newsletters, public meetings, and other communication platforms as major milestones are reached. - We understand this is disappointing? Why is this decision necessary?
-
We recognize that the pool has served generations of residents and has been an important community asset. This decision was not made lightly. After extensive evaluation, it became clear that continuing to invest in short-term repairs to an aging and failing facility was no longer the most responsible path forward. Closing the existing pool allows resources to be focused on developing a replacement facility that can safely and reliably serve the community for decades to come.
