Coach Kiley

Coach Kiley here! I started swimming for summer cabana club when I was 9 years old, then year round for the Terrapins in 6th grade & continued through to be varsity team captain in high school. I’ve always been a breaststroker - was a walk on swimmer at SJSU my freshman year, but trained hard & broke the school record in the 100 & 200 breaststroke. That was fun & I improved my record time twice more before I graduated from SJSU with my BS in Business/HR. Before my corporate career I taught swim lessons, was a lifeguard, nanny & pool manager - always gravitating towards the water. I’ve been coaching at Wave since April 2022 & I love sharing my passion for swimming with other swimmers. Coach Marissa

Hi! I’m Coach Marissa! I began my swimming journey when I was 5 years old and swam for the Almaden Gators until I was 18 years old. I also was the team captain for the Junior Varsity swim team at Notre Dame High School in downtown San Jose my sophomore year. I also swam in college at West Valley and got my AA Degree in Liberal Arts and Communications and then at Cal State Monterey Bay where I also obtained my Bachelors Degree in Human Communications. My stroke is the 200 butterfly and 400IM and the 500 freestyle. I love distance swimming and butterfly is my favorite stroke. I started teaching in 2016 when I was a swim instructor with Waterworks Aquatics and then for years worked my corporate career as a Director in Senior Living and recently changed my career to be a Swim Coach because of my passion for teaching others the skill of swimming and being where I am happiest-the water. My favorite sea animal is a dolphin. They are smart and fun and I love swimming with them in the wild when I go home to Guam.
