Campbell, CA – At approximately 2:25 AM on Sunday, January 12, the Campbell Police Department responded to a report of a subject on the City’s iconic water tower. Upon arrival, officers discovered the suspect still on the structure and had caused further damage to it. This incident follows previous acts of vandalism on the water tower on December 26 and January 9.

Officers made multiple announcements urging the individual to descend, but the suspect did not comply. To avoid escalating the situation, marked vehicles were repositioned, and officers maintained a discreet presence nearby. Over two hours later, around 4:40 AM, the suspect climbed down voluntarily and was apprehended after a brief foot pursuit.

The suspect was identified as Briley Bodemar, a 24-year-old resident of San Jose. He was arrested and taken to the Santa Clara County Main Jail on charges of felony vandalism, possession of graffiti tools, and resisting arrest.

"We take great pride in our city and its landmarks," said Campbell Police Chief, Gary Berg. "Thanks to an observant community member who reported seeing the individual on the water tower, we were able to safely apprehend the suspect and hold him accountable for his actions."

In coordination with Public Works, the vandalism to the water tower has been restored. The Campbell Police Department is committed to maintaining a safe environment for all community members and preserving the City's treasured landmarks. It is through strong community partnerships that our officers can keep Campbell a safer and more vibrant place to live.
