Climate Action

What is a Climate Action and Adaptation Plan?

A climate action and adaptation plan (CAAP) is a detailed and strategic framework for measuring and reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and building resiliency to address the impacts of climate change. The City will soon be kicking off a two-year process to develop its first CAAP and set specific targets that align with statewide emissions reduction goals and help Campbell achieve carbon neutrality by 2045.

Campbell CAAP

The City is seeking an experienced and qualified consultant, or consultant team, to prepare a Climate Action and Adaptation Plan. Proposal responses closed on December 21, 2023.

What is Campbell already doing to address GHG emissions and climate change?

Silicon Valley Clean Energy (SVCE) is the official electricity provider for Campbell, providing 100% clean energy to 96% of customers.

• Campbell's 2022 Building Reach Code requires all new building and major remodels to be fully electric and to be EV Ready or EV Capable.

• Campbell is a member of the Santa Clara Climate Collaborative and has committed to the vision and goals of the Collaborative.

• The City has a number of stormwater programs and policies in partnership with West Valley Clean Water Authority and the Santa Clara Urban Runoff Pollution Prevention Program.

• Organic waste is diverted from landfills through the West Valley Solid Waste Management Authority.
